Victorian School Day

On Friday 16th March Willow Class had a taste of Victorian School life on our visit to the Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock.

The children dressed, sat and behaved like a Victorian child under the direction of their very strict teacher for the morning! Below shows what happened to Victorian children who got ink on their hands during handwriting… One of our children had his fingers put in the ‘finger stocks’ to stop fiddling.

The children experienced handwriting using ink and chalk, maths involving pounds, shillings and pence and the geography of the British Empire. Later in the day we toured the wonderful museum and learned all about life in Victorian Britain.
