In Maple we have been using a book called the Water Tower by Gary Crew to think about how we could write our own suspense narrative.
We have created word banks of exciting vocabulary, looked really carefully at the pictures and made predictions about the story as well as thinking what words we would use to describe the ending. We have created role on the wall for the characters within the book as well as sharing our ideas about what has actually happened.
We have learnt that in order to build up the tension and make the reader realise something bad is about to happen it is more effective if you leave lots of hints, using short sentences and powerful word choices.
We are now writing our own suspense narrative and will share these with you when they are complete.
