Shabbat (18th May)
On Friday we held a Shabbat day in Poplar Class. We began by making special plaited Challah bread.
We then lit candles, said blessings and cut our bread. We put salt on the bread – it was delicious. We shared food.
In the afternoon we had a time of rest, it is very important during Shabbat to spend time with your family and friends. Jewish people will often visit the Synagogue.
Some of us made a giant hopscotch – we enjoyed spending time with each other.
At the end of our special time we ended Shabbat by lighting the special 6 wick candle. We let the wine flow over the cup so that during the next week of work we would remember Shabbat.
