Science in Maple Class – dissecting plants

In Maple Class we have been learning about how plants reproduce.  Firstly we focused on sexual reproduction in plants learning that they have male and female parts which surprised us – we didn’t think that this would be possible in plants.  We learnt about the male parts which are the anther and filament which make up the stamen as well as the female parts which are the sitgma, style and ovaries.  We also found out that the purpose of the petals is to attract pollinators.  We then disscted some daffodils to find the different parts of the plant we had been learning about.
