Railway Poems

In English in Willow this week we have been exploring Railway Poems. We analysed and discussed the poems and practiced reading them and adding rhythm.

The three poems we explored were ‘From a Railway Carriage’ by Robert Louis Stevenson, ‘The Rhythm of Life’ by Michael Rosen and ‘Night Mail’ by W H Auden. We noticed how the poems (Railway Carriage and Night Mail in particular) had a rhythm that reminded us of being on a railway. Our favourite was ‘Night Mail’ which most of us chose to perform. We performed these in pairs and as a class and added actions.
