Return to school
At the start of term, we have asked if children can bring in pencil cases that can be left at school during the week so they have their own set of equipment. All children MUST have a water bottle and you may choose to send your child in with a fruit snack but fruit will be provided daily at break time.
Reading practice is essential to develop decoding, understanding and enjoyment of books. Please keep sharing books as well as hearing your child read regularly. By sharing and discussing books with your child at home this improves their reading and the comprehension of the texts that they share with you as well as being a great time to share together. We have reading records and bookmarks for every child so please make sure you sign these every time your child reads to you, these will be checked and comments will be written by staff as well when we hear your child read.
Children will continue to receive spellings/ phonics sounds to practise each week. Please support your child to practise their spellings at home in preparation for Spelling tests on Mondays.
Children will be doing PE on Thursdays and Fridays. Your child should have their PE kit in school all week as it may be necessary to change days unexpectedly. Your child’s PE kit MUST include plimsolls or trainers. Many PE lessons will be outside so please also make sure that your child has a t-shirt, shorts and/or jog bottoms and a jumper for PE. Please make sure all items are named.
Please also make sure long hair is tied back and if your child has earrings they must either put tape (which you should provide) over their earrings for the PE session or be able to take out their own earrings.
