Welcome back to a new term in Poplar class.
If you would like to talk to us at any time please do not hesitate to come and speak to us at the end of the school day or book an appointment with the office at a convenient time.
This term our Christian Value is Determination
We are excited about sharing our learning with you on our class page. This term our topic is My Town. We will read a selection of stories focusing on characters and their homes, find out about our own town and what makes it special. We look forward to sharing our work with you. Please click below for this term’s topic web.
Homework will be given out on a Wednesday and must be handed in the following Tuesday. Please check your child’s book bag for their homework book which will have a weekly activity which will be related to learning in either English, Maths or Topic.
Reading practice is essential to develop decoding, understanding and enjoyment of books. Please keep sharing books as well as hearing your child read regularly. By sharing and discussing books with your child at home this improves their reading and the comprehension of the texts that they share with you as well as being a great time to share together. We have new Africa-themed bookmarks so please make sure you sign these every time your child reads to you.
Children will continue to receive spellings each week, stuck into their homework books. Please support your child to practise their spellings at home in preparation for Spelling tests on Thursdays.
Children will be doing PE on Mondays and Thursdays. Your child should have their PE kit in school all week as it may be necessary to change days unexpectedly. Your child’s PE kit MUST include plimsolls or trainers – this term unless it is raining many PE lessons will be outside, so please also make sure that your child has a t-shirt, shorts and/or jog bottoms and a jumper for PE. Please make sure all items are named.
Please also make sure long hair is tied back and if your child has earrings they must either put tape (which you should provide) over their earrings for the PE session or be able to take out their own earrings.
