Poplar Class trip to Donnington Castle

Poplar class had a fantastic morning at Donnington Castle.  First, we spent time exploring the castle to extend our learning of our castle topic.  We loved learning about arrow slits and finding out about bows and arrows.

Looking through the gatehouse, we could see a spiral staircase.

We were fascinated by learning about what could destroy a castle wall and why the castle was in ruins.  We want to find out more about canons and cannonballs next week!

Then, we really enjoyed role playing around the castle’s courtyard.

We even tried to sneak up to the castle without being spotted!
