Year 6 have been having a great time learning how to use a sewing machine with Mrs Curtis. They are making their memory cushions with sections of their old school uniform to take with them when they leave in a few weeks. First they all made a bag to get used to using the machine and to keep all of their material and pattern pieces in for the cushion after which they started on the cushions. They had to measure the cushion and create their own pattern ensuring they added a seam allowance and then divide this into nine equal sections for the template. Once they had done this they pinned on their patterns to the fabric and cut them all out before sewing them together to make their cushion cover.
