Maths club has started!
The children were a little surprised as they believed their lunchtime maths club with Mr Lyne would be lots of calculation… Quite the opposite as maths club this term will focus on using maths when we didn’t even realise maths was involved.
This week we began with creating shape art using only a square. From a square we were able to create triangles, irregular hexagons and rectangles. By overlapping these we found we could create a range of striking artistic images.
The children also made connections with using angles and measurement in our activity. All from a simple square…
In the coming weeks we will be using maths in different ways, including in origami and cookery.
