Maple Class go to Fairford Air Tattoo

Maple Class had the most amazing time on Friday at Fairford Air Tattoo.  Within minutes of arrival there were fighter jets roaring above our heads and quickly we reached for our ear defenders!  During the day not only did we get to see the most amazing display by the Red Arrows we also saw a Hurricane, Spitfire and Lancaster display as well as Typhoons, Chinooks and Solo Turk’s – we never knew that helicopters as large as a chinook did aerial stunts!  As well as all the amazing displays in the air we also got to spend time in the RAF experience; here we tried winter sports, netball, football, sat in a Red Arrow, climbed on a Typhoon….and many more amazing activities.  We even spent time in the Techno Zone where there was lots of hands on STEM activities for use to try out, whilst here there was even a photo opportunity for one of the children with a Al Worden; a NASA astronaut from Apollo 15 – imagine having your photo taken with someone who has actually flown to the moon!  The day was absolutely fantastic and everyone has so many memories (and stickers and posters!) to treasure.  It was an amazing way to end all our learning about RAF 100.
