Whilst learning about the water cycle we carried out an experiment to make it rain in our classroom. In order to do this we placed a bowl of hot water inside a larger bowl and covered this with clingfilm. Next we placed some ice cubes on top of the clingfilm and watched carefully. We saw that the hot water evaporated and rose upwards, when it hit the cold layer at the top of the bowl then it condensed and dripped back down into the bowl. This helped us to understand how it actually rains – a very important step in order to start our rivers journey.
