Oak class were very excited when they spotted a large egg in the hedge. They thought it must have been dropped from the sky. We decided we should bring it inside to keep it warm. We had to be very careful and respectful towards the egg. The children all wanted to watch to see if it would hatch. Some thought it might hatch over night as we had learnt that turtles hatch at night so they don’t get caught and eaten.
The following morning we came in to find a dragon had hatched from the egg. The children were very excited and named him Gerald. We found some information about dragons and learnt that they need coal to eat and lava to drink, so they can breathe fire. We also built a shelter for Gerald and a perch so we can teach him to fly. We are really enjoying looking after Gerald.
