2D shapes in Poplar

We’ve had a fab week in Poplar learning about 2D shapes.  We’ve been learning the names of shapes and how many sides and corners each shape has.  We’ve really enjoyed these videos to help us learn.

First, Year 1 went on a shape walk and found shapes in school.  We sorted these and put them on display in class.  Year 2 made shapes using geoboards.

Do you know where these shapes are in school?

Then, we made shape monsters and had to count how many of each shape we had used.

Here are some pictures of our shape monsters.

Then we were challenged by playing ‘odd one out’ – click the link to have a go.  Remember to explain your reasoning and prove your answer!
