We were delighted to welcome a visitor to Willow this week – Chinta Kallie – who came in to talk to us about our RE topic this term of Diwali. We learned that Diwali is a festival of light and a celebration of good over evil and light over darkness.
We were able to able to see the wonderful light displays and hear the Hindu story that led up to the celebration of Diwali.
We shared fruits and sampled Diwali sweets (which some of us were more keen on that others!) Inspired by our learning we then began to make Diwali lamp holders in the afternoon (created from clay using the pinch pot method) which we will paint in bright colours and then light in our own Diwali celebration.
