Year 2 have been learning to divide by sharing objects and writing the related calculation number sentence.
We have been checking our answers are correct by using multiplication as the inverse of division.
For example, in the photograph above, Mersim has worked out:
18 divided by 3 = 6, then written
________ = 3 x 6
He knows 3 x 6 = 18 so he knows his answer is correct and writes 18 = 3 x 6. Well done, Mersim!
How has Tyler used multiplication to check if 10 divided by 2 = 5 is correct? Is he right?
