As part of our work on rivers we created our own models of rivers using items from within the classroom to create mountains and valleys on our models. Next we covered our model in plastic and then we made in rain over our mountains using a spray water bottle. As we watched we saw the water trickle down the mountains and start to form streams and rivers, in places in collected forming lakes. Finally we added a very small amount of glitter on the top of our mountain to act like pollution and what was surprising was that within less than a minute the glitter had contaminated all of the water on our model!
