Teachers: Miss Sarah Gerard (Tuesday – Friday) and Mrs Ruth Leach (Monday)
Teaching Assistants: Gemma Wilkins, Margaret Patching and Connor Gilogley
Happy New Year! Welcome back to a new term- I really hope you have all had a lovely Christmas and are excited to be back at school! This term our topic is ‘Tombs, Temples and Tourists’- Please see the learning organiser below to find out more information about what we will be learning about.
This term the Homework menu consists of practical DT tasks that support our class topic. All completed Homework will be added to our class ‘museum’ and will be presented during the show case to parents after February half term. It would be fantastic if everyone can complete at least one of the tasks so that everyone has something to share!
Spellings will be tested on Monday’s and will be given out every Tuesday. Please ensure that your child(ren) bring their homework book in every Tuesday so that these do not get lost. Please continue to practice your multiplication- there will be regular competitions and prizes for TT Rockstars (all children have been given a login for this). Remember raffle tickets will be given out daily if you use TT Rockstars, read, practice spellings or complete homework!
Please continue to encourage your child to read at home. They can read independently or with your support and they may write their own comment in their reading diary.
This term Year 4 will be going swimming on a Tuesday morning and their PE lesson will take place on a Wednesday afternoon.
ALL children MUST have a PE kit in school all week as at times it may be necessary to change the day.
PE kits MUST include plimsolls or trainers as some sessions are outside and even if indoors, games sessions such as football require the children to have plimsolls or trainers on. Please also make sure that your child has a t-shirt, shorts and/or jogging bottoms and a jumper for PE along with hair tied back if your child has long hair. If your child has earrings they must either put tape (which you should provide) over their earrings for the PE session or be able to take out their own earrings.
If your child requires a school lunch please make sure that we have their lunch money in advance i.e. Monday for the week/number of days required. If your child is having a packed lunch please make sure that it is well balanced as we encourage healthy eating as a school. Packed lunches should not contain sweets and fizzy drinks.
Please label all items of clothing. Uniform must be worn unless prior notice is given. Children are not allowed to wear trainers in school. Jewellery should be minimal. Nail varnish, make-up and tattoos are not allowed.
Wider opportunities in Willow Class (COVID dependent)
In Willow class, there are a number of new opportunities which your child will be able to do. Swimming takes place in Willow, along with a 1 or 2 night residential. More details about these will follow when we are more aware on how and if they can take place within COVID guidance.
At the end of year 4, there is a statutory times table test. This is an on screen test consisting of 25 questions that check how fluently your child can remember there times tables up to 12x. This is a timed test with 6 seconds to answer each question. In 2021, this test is optional for schools due to COVID and will be mandatory after that.
