Welcome back to a new term in Poplar Class!
If you would like to talk to us at any time please do not hesitate to send me an email on the class email firstname.lastname@example.org or book a phone call appointment with the office at a convenient time.
Welcome back to a new school term! We are very excited to welcome everyone back. This term we are still having Outdoor Explorers on Friday afternoons so please can you continue to send your child in on Fridays wearing outdoor clothes.
Please continue to send children’s reading records into school everyday. These are a great way for us to communicate about your child’s reading and it helps their fluency if we follow the correct book progression.
We are excited about sharing our learning with you on our class page. This term our topic is called Exploring the UK. Please take a look through our learning organiser and our class news to keep you updated with our learning this term.

Reading practice is essential to develop decoding, understanding and enjoyment of books. Please keep sharing books as well as hearing your child read regularly. By sharing and discussing books with your child at home this improves their reading and the comprehension of the texts that they share with you as well as being a great time to share together. We have reading records and bookmarks for every child so please make sure you sign these every time your child reads to you, these will be checked and comments will be written by staff as well when we hear your child read.
Homework will be sent out on Google Classroom every Thursday (please let me know if you would prefer paper copies) and we would like anything returned by the following Wednesday. Children will continue to receive spellings or phonics sounds to practise each week. At the beginning of term we will also send out our homework menu full of activities you may like to complete at home.
Children will be doing PE on Wednesday and Thursdays. Your child should have their PE kit in school all week as it may be necessary to change days unexpectedly. Your child’s PE kit MUST include plimsolls or trainers. Many PE lessons will be outside so please also make sure that your child has a t-shirt, shorts and/or tracksuit bottoms and a jumper for PE. Please make sure all items are named.
Please also make sure long hair is tied back and if your child has earrings they must either put tape (which you should provide) over their earrings for the PE session or be able to take out their own earrings.
