Topic
We are excited about sharing our learning with you on our class page. This term our topic is looking at Ancient Egypt – we are looking forward to learning all about the Ancient Egyptian civilisation. Please take a look through our learning organiser and our class news to keep you updated with our learning this term.

Homework
Homework will be sent home every Thursday to be completed and returned by the following Wednesday. Within the homework there will be English, maths and topic-based activities for the term. Please complete as much as you can as this is an additional boost to your child’s learning. Children will continue to receive spellings each week. Please support your child to practise their spellings at home in preparation for spelling tests on Fridays.
Reading
Reading is very important in Year 3 and 4 as it allows children to develop their imagination and enjoyment for books. Please continue to read with your children at home and record this in their reading diary. By sharing and discussing books with your children it improves their comprehensions and is a great time for you to share together.
Times tables
It is important that children are able to recall at speed all their times tables facts including the related division facts as this supports their ability to solve calculations accurately and quickly. The children will be given opportunity in class to practise their times tables daily, but this needs to be complemented by further practise at home. Please let me know if you would like any resources to support you with this.
Spellings
Children will receive spellings each week and they need to practise their spellings at home; they will be tested every Friday in Class.
PE kits
Beech class will be doing PE on Tuesday (9am-10am) – this is Swimming and Thursday (2pm-3pm). Your child should come to school in their PE kit on a Thursday. Many PE lessons will be outside this term so please make sure that your child has a t-shirt, shorts and/or jogging bottoms and a jumper for PE. Please make sure all items of clothing are named.
Lunch
If your child requires a school lunch, please make sure that we have their lunch money in advance i.e. Monday for the week/number of days required. If your child is having a packed lunch, please make sure that it is well balanced as we encourage healthy eating as a school. Packed lunches should not contain sweets and fizzy drinks.
Wider opportunities in Beech Class
In Beech class, there are a number of new opportunities which your child will be able to do. Swimming takes place in Beech, along with a 1 night residential at Court Hill.
