Blood smoothies in Maple Class!

In Maple we have been learning about blood; all the different parts of it and just how amazing it is.  As part of this work we created our own blood smoothies to help us remember the different parts of blood.  We used apple juice to represent the plasma, raspberries for the red blood cells, marshmallows for the white blood cells and sprinkles for the antigens – we talked about how we could see all these parts of our blood under an electron microscope.  Once we had blended it we talked about how it looked like the blood we saw when we cut ourselves!  We all enjoyed drinking them afterwards!!!!

From this we have been creating our own artwork both sketches and acrylics around the different components of blood and also looking at scabs – we will post images of these once we have finished them.
