So far this term, Poplar have been learning all about Europe. We have learnt about a few different countries within Europe and famous artists. Last week we explored Monet’s paintings, in particular, his painting of the waterloo bridge. We spoke about the different things and colours we could see and how Monet may have created a painting like this. We decided to create our own versions!
First we created different shades of grey and blue for the water and the sky/background. We then used sponges to create a foggy background and then tried different brush strokes to create an effect of moving water. Later on, we printed the bridge using wooden blocks and added any extra fog or buildings.
