We were so lucky in Poplar to have a visit from Lizzie from the Oxford Jewish Congregation. Lizzie taught us all about the festival of Chanukkah (or Hanukkah). We found out about the story of Chanukkah and looked at important objects for Jewish people during this celebration.
We then sang songs and even tried some tasty donuts!
We were really interested by the dreidel game so after Lizzie left we made our own dreidels out of paper and had a go playing the dreidel game – pictures coming soon!
I was so impressed by the excellent listening skills of all the children, how well they joined in with the songs and the really interesting questions they asked Lizzie. Thank you so much to Lizzie for visiting us and developing our understanding of Judaism.
