Willow Class – October 2018

Welcome back! I hope that you all had a great half-term.

Our topic this term is Brazil and the Amazon. Please see details of this on the enclosed topic web.

Homework

Homework this will be sent home on a Wednesday and needs to be returned on a Tuesday.  Within the homework there will be an English, maths and topic based activity or a selection of each. Please complete as much as you can as this is an additional boost to your child’s learning.

Reading

Please continue to encourage your child to read at home. They can read independently or with your support and they may write their own comment in their reading diary. We will check this daily and award children raffle tickets which are then entered into the Reading Raffle which is drawn on a Friday.

PE

PE lessons will take place on a Monday and Friday.

ALL children MUST have a PE kit in school all week as at times it may be necessary to change the day.

PE kits MUST include plimsolls or trainers as some sessions are outside and even if indoors, games sessions such as football require the children to have plimsolls or trainers on.  Please also make sure that your child has a t-shirt, shorts and/or jogging bottoms and a jumper for PE along with hair tied back if your child has long hair.  If your child has earrings they must either put tape (which you should provide) over their earrings for the PE session or be able to take out their own earrings.

Morning routine

Registration is at 8.50am so your child should be in the classroom ready for us to start our day by this time.  I am available at the end of the school day or please make an appointment to see me via the office.

After school

Pupils will be brought to the playground. We will stand on the blue line in the playground, please could you wait until we are all lined up and then we will send your child to you.

Lunch

If your child requires a school dinner please make sure that we have their lunch money in advance i.e. Monday for the week/number of days required.  If your child is having a packed lunch please make sure that it is well balanced as we encourage healthy eating as a school. Packed lunches should not contain sweets and fizzy drinks.

Uniform

Please label all items of clothing.  Uniform must be worn unless prior notice is given.  Children are not allowed to wear trainers in school. Jewellery should be minimal. Nail varnish, make-up and tattoos are not allowed.

Christian values

This term we will our whole school values focus on Love. We will discuss the values as a class and embed this in our daily learning and routine. Please do discuss these values with your child at home. Our key questions are ‘What is love?’ and ‘How do you show love?’
